It’s summer time. At the edge of the rocky limestone lake dozens of people splash about in the cool turquoise water while a gushing waterfall falls 18 metres behind them. Local wildlife casually approach the pool for a sip of water then disappear into the bush. It’s places like this that attract visitors who enjoy natures offering.
Over a thousand years ago the roof of the underground cave collapsed creating a dome shaped spring and emerging from that Lake Hamilton Pool was created. Ancient Indian tribes like the Tonkawa and Apache used this place because of the lush vegetation and wildlife. The natural shelter provided by the grotto creates a welcoming feeling.
